The Control System Test Facility features a scaled down power station incorporating the same control gear used in a actual power station. Over the past ((10)) years it has slowly been built up to an impressive size filling a 7x 9m room.
The most recent upgrades, scheduled to be completed end of March, will see the system simulate 8 Generators (two of which are wired as Out Of Service Generators) 4 Wind Turbine simulator 2 Consumer load simulators 2 Demand Managed Devices and 2 PowerStore simulators.
The PowerStore is a Powercorp product developed as an advanced flywheel storage device that stabilizes grid voltage and frequency. All these devices connect into a Main Distribution Board. Each connection is know as a Feeder. Powercorp has a number of Feeder designs and so feeder control gear is easily withdrawable, allowing for backwards compatibility to older feeder designs as well as customisation for future client needs and testing requirements.
